Peclers Paris

Today I received a talk from Peclers Paris. This is probably the first time I heard about this name. I enjoyed the talk very much except that I felt sleepy in the middle of the talk. I have jotted down the key points in the talk. Those took me 3 pages already.

Balenciaga Fall 2009 RTW

Here is my sketch of the collection...
The theme of the collection is "Simple makes Perfect". Nowadays in the world, pollution is everywhere and our world is facing the problem of global warming. The environmental issue is a hot topic. Why our world is polluted? Obviously, it is because of human desires. We want to have better world of living so we keep changing our world. Thus, our world is over-polluted.

Simple makes perfect. People always say "Simple is the best". I do believe in this. So my design is simple rather than complicated. Knit wear is becoming more popular recently. Last season, lycra was used as the material by Balenciaga. I believe that knits will be applied in the coming seasons. Giant knits is my key design element. I want to use the giant knits to create volume and weight. Practically, giant knits are good to wear in winter in order to keep warmth.

Here is some reference...

Green

Brown

Balenciaga used mainly achromatic colour every seasons and especially in winter, nearly no other appeared except the neutral colours. So in the Fall 2009, I have decided to use different tones of black and white as the basic. Interest will be added by the use of beige and light green.
Balenciaga's colour will never be in high chroma. So the colours I have chosen are rather dull or pastel in nature.

These are my sketches after colouring...

Every seasons, there are some interesting details for each of the outfit, maybe as the design or maybe as the colour. I think the fading effect on giant knits will probably adds interest to the whole collection. Black and grey are the core colours.

Here is my finalizd collection...

Colour forecast

Spring/Summer 2009

Spring/Summer 2008

Autumn/Winter 2008

According to the colours used in the previous seasons, Arhromatic colour scheme is the basic: Black, White, Beige and Gray. Analogous colour plan is applied as well. In this three seasons, complementary colours are not used and the whole collections are harmonious. Principle of familiarity is applied since those colour combinaions will seem pleasing to most people.

In Spring/Summer 2008, Pantone 5645C, 5225C and 600C are pastel colours rather than neutral colours. In Spring/Summer 2009, Pantone 5025C, 522C, 270C, 544C and 7456C are also the pastel colours. However, only Pantone 653C is not the neutral colours. It seems that in the collections of Spring/Summer, Balenciaga tends to add more colours in the designs. It may because of the mood of different weathers.

According to the WGSN, the key colour influences of Spring/Summer 2010 is "Inspired by Nature, Light Enhanced, Orientalist". The key colour levels are "Pastel: etheral, Darks: exotic and mysterious, Neutrals: low-key mix of synhetics & natural hues, Mid-tones: earthy & matt, Bright: intense & saturated". The above is just the reference of the coming colour trend.

In my point of view, I believe that Balenciaga will continue to use its brand colour scheme (Achromatic colour scheme as the fundamentals) in the season Autumn/Winter 2009. In Autumn/Winter 2008, achromtic colour scheme was mainly used so in the coming Fall 2009, I think that Balenciaga will keep this trend. Maybe one or two complementary colours will be added to create the construsting effect. This follows the principle of Novelty in which harmony quickly becomes boring.

Class Exercise no.4

Among these 150 outfits, I have chosen 5 as the final collection.
The colour family includes the neutral colours: black, white and grey and the analogous colours: red, beige and brown.

I think the colour combination of the colour family created the mood of serious. Therefore, I picked a recent hot issue "Over-Pollution" as my theme of the collection. Here is my presentation...

it was cool...isn't it?
